SMOOTHEN UP FRIZZY HAIR

Sensex up 2% on tax clarity

Five-year jail term for Bibi Jagir Kaur

PATIALA: In a major setback to the Parkash Singh Badal government, a special CBI court on Friday convicted Punjab cabinet minister and former Shiromani Gurdware Parbandhak Committee president Bibi Jagir Kaur and sentenced he to five years rigorous imprisonment for the illegal confinement and forcible abortion of herdaughter Harpreet Kaur, who died under mysterious circumstances in 2000.

City tops country with 33.2% households having computers

Chandigarh: if the use of ultra-modern gadgets and quality of basic civic amenities anything to by, Chandigarh is one of the best :urbanised" cities in the country.
The recently concluded Phase 1 of the Census of India-2011 shows that the City Beautiful tops the country with 33.2 %  households having computers/laptops. so much so, the city provides 93.7% treated tap water to its citizens, again the best performance in the city.

MC rejects house tax

Chandigarh:The MC house on Friday decided not to levy house tax on the city residents, which was desired by the administration in order to raise revenue.
This means the civic body will lose a grant of Rs 400 crore for its two prestigious projects under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewl Mission (JNNURM)
